Built in 1869 even as Nebraska was just settling into its first years of statehood, the Thomas P. Kennard House is a stately Italianate structure, once home to the first Secretary of State for Nebraska for which the home is now named. Now the oldest residence standing within the initial bounds of the city of Lincoln, the home has been restored to appear as it did in the 1870s, complete with furnishings and decorations that reflect the highly formal and elegant Victorian period. It sits two blocks east of the Governor's Mansion, less than a mile southeast of downtown.
Open by appointment, call for details.
General admission $3.
