Initially developed in the late 1800s, the historical Haymarket District is now a bustling center of business, encompassing a variety of retail shops, art galleries and restaurants. Every Saturday during the summer, the Haymarket Farmers' Market opens with almost 200 vendor stalls, providing fresh produce, baked goods and unique art, accompanied by live musical performances. The district's six blocks are part of Lincoln's downtown, starting just a block southwest of the University of Nebraska - Lincoln campus.
